eBay – Bad eBay

Do to very bad changes made by the woman running eBay, we will be selling very little or no items on eBay. We, like many other sellers on eBay are looking at other opportunities to auction / sell on the internet. Craigslist, Yahoo auction and others are being reviewed at this time. We will post information about our auctions on this page later.

Problems with eBay for sellers:

Feedback. New feed back rules does not allow buyer to give negative feed back. If a bad buyer gives you a negative feedback for no reason, it can NOT be removed. Ron Ruble Enterprises has a feed back of 100% positive for the last ten years! New rules: If you get 2 negatives feedbacks in less than one year, you are kicked off eBay. – No way to challenge the negative feedbacks.

Detailed seller ratings: Buyers give a seller rating of 1 to 5 for; Item as described, Communication, Shipping time and Shipping and handling charges. If you have an average rating below 3.5, you could be kick of eBay. There is no way to challenge bad ratings from a buyer. Good example that has happened to many sellers. – Seller gets bad rating 1 or 2 for shipping cost, but the shipping cost of the item was FREE. Rating system of A to F, a C would be average and acceptable, but eBay rating of 1 to 5, an average 2 1/2 rating or 3 rating will get you kicked off of eBay. Ron Ruble Enterprises detailed seller rating is unknown. Seller must have 10 buyer ratings before eBay will let the seller know their rating is, but if it is below their minimum rating, you will be kicked off eBay.

Payment by PayPal required: New rule, no checks or Money orders or cash on pickup. Must use PayPal only. (More profit for eBay, they own PayPal)

New Maximum cost for shipping for some items. Even if the actual cost is greater the eBay listed maximum cost, the seller must pay the difference.

Cost: eBay fees have greatly increased. Listing fees, final selling value fee, PayPal fee and shipping makes the cost very high to sell on eBay. Sometimes the cost would be 30% to 50% (or more) of the total final value selling price of the item. No profit – no sell on eBay.

New Search pages on eBay: New search pages are hard to use and do not work well. With eBay trying to put more ads of the page, they are hurting selling on eBay. Example: when search brings up more than one page of items, there a number of ads at the bottom of the page before you can find the next search pages. Many people (including me) may think they only got one page of items and do not scroll to the very bottom of the page to go to the next page.

PS – eBay is laying off 10% to 20% of its work force because of loss of business. Many of the bad sellers are still doing business on eBay and a very large number of the GOOD sellers are leaving eBay. Hummmm… I wonder why this is happening?
